March 25, 2016- Bethany, Oklahoma – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team (4-22) split a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) match-up against Southwestern Christian (4-17). The Lady Lions won game one 15-13 and lost game two 8-3.

Game One (W 15-13)

Ashley Abair started on the mound for the Lady Lions.  She pitched one inning before Hannah Lee came in and pitched the remaining six innings.  Lee had two strike outs and nine hits.

In the top of the first, Ashley Abair singled to left field scoring Amber Gignac and Bailey Balloun .

Southwestern Christian quickly scored six runs in the bottom of the first off of three hits and one SAGU error.

The Lady Lions must have thought six runs was a good idea and in the top of the second, SAGU scored six runs of their own. Ashlyn Stanfill was able to score off of a SWC error. Kelsey Coburn doubled to right-center, scoring Bailey Balloun .  Next, Kristin Stringer doubled to left-center, driving in Coburn. Ashley Nop singled to center, scoring Stringer.  Finally, on a 1-2 count, Ashley Abair hit a two run home run.

Going into the fourth inning, SWC was in the lead 9-8.  In the top of the fourth, SAGU scored five runs. Bailey Balloun started out the inning with a double to left-center and then scored when Kelsey Coburn singled to left field.  At the end, Bailey Balloun bunted and reached on a base hit.  The Lady Lions had seven hits in the fourth.

For SAGU, Bailey Balloun went three for five with one double, she also scored three runs. Kristin Stringer went three for five.  She had two runs and one RBI with one double.

Game Two (L 8-3)

During game two, SAGU’s Kristin Stringer hit a double in the first inning, scoring Bailey Balloun .

In the bottom of the second, SWC’s Shelbi Robinett hit a three run home run to left center field on a  0-0 count.  At the end of the second inning, SWC led 5-1.

The Lady Lions were able to pick up one run in the fourth and one more run in the sixth.

Ashley Abair pitched one inning for SAGU. Kaitlyn Canales pitched two and two/thirds inning and Hannah Lee finished up with two and one/thirds inning pitched.

Once again, Kristin Stringer led SAGU offensively.  She went two for four with one RBI, one run scored and one double. Bailey Balloun went two for four with two runs scored.

On Monday, March 28, 2016 SAGU will host Oklahoma City University .  OCU is currently ranked no. six in the NAIA with a record of 32-1 overall.  The doubleheader begins at 2pm.
