Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball University of Dallas
SAGU is now 8-12 for the season, which they have already won more games this season compared to last.
Game One (4-2)
SAGU had a steady attack. The Lady Lions scored one run every other inning (the 1 st , 3 rd , 5 th and 7 th ). SAGU started off the game with Kristen Stringer reaching base on a fielder’s choice, scoring Destinee Vindiola in the process. University of Dallas scored both of their two runs in the bottom of the first.
In the top of the third, SAGU’s Stringer had another RBI with a sacrifice bunt, scoring Baylee McBrannon .
Finally in the top of the seventh, Baylee McBrannon stole home.
SAGU’s Rachel Ray pitched all seven innings for SAGU. Ray had seven strike-outs while only giving up four hits. Baylee McBrannon went two for four while scoring two runs. Destinee Vindiola also went two for four at the plate while scoring one run.
Game Two (L 6-5)
The Lady Lions took the early lead. They scored three runs in the top of the second (thanks to three hits) and two runs in the top of the third after Cheyenne Fults hit a two-run homer. That was Fults third homerun for the season.
Heading into the bottom of the seventh, SAGU held the 5-1 lead. Dallas had a huge inning and scored five runs off of four hits. The run that sealed the win came from Shannon Sealy who was able to score on a wild pitch.
SAGU’s Fults led offensively with her two-run home run. Kayla Milstead went two for three at the plate, with one run scored.
University of Dallas’ pitcher Katie Lee picked up the win on the mound.
SAGU will begin Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) play on Friday, March 10, 2017. USAO is currently 11-6 overall.
