Fort Worth, Texas- April 13, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team lost two close games to Texas Wesleyan University (TWU).  The Lady Rams topped SAGU 1-0 and 2-0.  TWU is now 20-24 for the season.  SAGU is now 5-35.

Game one (L 1-0)

Game one came down to being a defensive battle for both teams.  Texas Wesleyan scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth after Dani West singled to left center field.  Once she got on base she stole second. Samantha Vasquez was called out at first after a sacrifice bunt.  West advanced to third base. Bailey Terry grounded out to second base, but scored West in the process.

Hannah Lee pitched the full six innings for the Lady Lions.  She had two strike outs while giving up four hits. Amber Gignac went one for two at the plate for SAGU.

Game Two (L 2-0)

Ashley Abair started on the mound for the Lady Lions.  She pitched the entire game, striking out two while giving up five hits.

The top of the fourth looked promising for the Lady Lions. Kristin Stringer doubled to left center field.  Next up, Ashley Nop singled through the left side advancing Stringer to third base.  Unfortunately, SAGU stranded two on base without any to score.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth. Kayla Prachyl reached base on a fielding error by SAGU.  Prachyl then stole second base.  Next, Bailey Terry doubled to left center, scoring  Prachyl.  On another SAGU error, Terry scored.

SAGU’s Kelsey Coburn went two for three at the plate.  Kristin Stringer went one for three with one double.

The Lady Lions will have a busy weekend.  On Friday, April 15, 2016 they will host Mid-America Christian University (22-16).  Game time is at 1pm. And then on Saturday, April 16, 2016, SAGU will travel to play University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (21-16).  The first game of the double header begins at noon.
