Waxahachie, Texas- March 1, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team began Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) play against Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon.  The Lady Rams swept SAGU 6-0 in both games.  SAGU is currently 2-16 and TWU is now 9-7.

In the first game, six of the seven innings remained scoreless.  Unfortunately, in one innings time, TWU scored all six runs.  In the top of the sixth, TWU scored six runs off of five hits.  SAGU made two errors.

In game one, SAGU’s Kelsey Coburn went one for three with her one hit being a double.  Coburn is currently batting .421. Ashley Abair pitched for the Lady Lions, allowing 10 hits.

SAGU’s Hannah Lee pitched in game two.  Lee had three strike outs and ten hits.  TWU scored two runs in the top of the fourth after Brittany Rosenberry hit a two run home run over the left field fence on a 0-0 count.  The Lady Lions were able to get out of the inning while stranding one on base.

On Saturday, March 5, 2016, SAGU will return to non-conference play when they host Shriner College. Game one of the doubleheader begins at noon.
