The Lady Lions volleyball team did nothing but dominated over the weekend in two Sooner Athletic Conference road matches against USAO and Mid-American Christian University . Winning both games three sets to zero finishing round one of conference play. This propels their season record to 18-1 and 10-0 in conference play for a one-game lead over Oklahoma City University.

Their first game was against USAO Friday night who had a 4-13 record before the weekend. The Lady Lions came into Oklahoma and meant nothing but business holding their opponent to 43 points for the game; 25-9, 25-11, and 25-13. The Lions stayed consistent with multiple players having notable kills; Kali Shaw (5), Madeleine Hartline (5), Mollie McBride (3), Celi Bruce (2), Suzanny Figueiredo (8) , and Jancee Akers (6) . Sophia Ivy had 20 assists on the night, Shaw had eight digs, Celi Bruce with six digs, Ivy five digs and Figueiredo finishing with seven digs. The Lady Lions had impressive hitting percentages against USAO; 0.429 in set one and 0.450 in set two to give them their first win on the weekend.

Their last game was against MACU Saturday and was not much different than Friday night as they won in three straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-20) and headed back to Texas with a still perfect conference record. The Lady Lions stayed active defensively and lured them into a 0.125 hitting percentage. Sophia Ivy had 31 assists, six digs, and three kills doing everything on the court. Senior hitter, Suzanny Figueiredo had 15 kills on 31 attempts with only four errors and 10 digs for an impressive night. Coach Hank Moore after the game said, “We did not play up to our ability and have a long way to go but as we go into the second half of conference play we are 10-0. We are moving in the right direction with our 18-1 season record.”

SAGU has won 17 straight matches and look to make that 19 when they have two conference road games this weekend. The Lady Lions will face Central Christian College Friday night at 6 pm then Langston University Saturday for a 12 pm game time. SAGU swept both of these teams last time they played each other this season.
