In the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Classic , the Lady Lions went 1-1. SAGU lost to Baker College Friday night 62-66 and defeated Texas College 88-68 Saturday afternoon. Other Friday night games at the SAGU Classic resulted in LSU-Shreveport defeating Texas Wesleyan 59-58 and Oklahoma City University beating Texas College 88-40. OCU won 71-50 against LSU-Shreveport and Baker College went 2-0 defeating Texas Wesleyan 68-56 on Saturday.

Game one for the Lady Lions was back and forth the whole game as they were tied after two periods 28-28. Then SAGU took a lead at the end of the 3rd 46-39 before a strong 4th quarter from Baker scoring 27 points to SAGU’s 16, resulting in the 62-66 final. Lexi Rich and Mckenzie Martin both had 18 points on the day connecting on eight three’s combined with five from Martin and three from Rich. Rich also had four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Jenna Price was close to another double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds.

In their second game of the classic. the Lions ran away in the second half behind their defense allowing 21 points to their 50. SAGU had four players in double figures: Lexi Rich (16), Jenna Price (15), Kiara Glenn (15), and Mckenzie Martin (13). Price and Erika Johnson led the Lady Lions in rebounding with eight. Glenn and Rich led in assists with six each. The Lions had 12 more rebounds, eight more assists, seven fewer turnovers, four more blocks, and one more dead ball to give them a solid non-conference win.  Their next game will be at Dallas Christian College Monday night at 5:30 pm.
