Waxahachie, Texas- April 1, 2016- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team dropped two Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) games to Mid-America Christian University (MACU).  Game one ended with a score of 9-0 and game two ended at 8-0.  MACU is now 19-11 overall and SAGU is 4-28.

Game One (L 9-0)

SAGU’s Ashley Abair pitched the five innings for the Lions.  She had nine runs on 13 hits.

In the bottom of the first, things looked promising for SAGU.  Leadoff hitter Amber Gignac doubled deep down the right field line. Bailey Balloun struck out swinging, and then Kelsey Coburn grounded out to first but advanced Gignac to third putting her in scoring position. Kristin Stringer reached base on a walk.  Unfortunately, the Lions couldn’t capitalize and Rieanha Cano grounded out to the pitcher’s mound.

In the top of the third, MACU scored five runs partly thanks to Carly Castaneda t hree-run home run over the center field fence on a 1-1 count.

For the Lady Lions, Gignac went two for three.

Game Two (L 8-0)

MACU got off to a strong start and scored four runs off of three hits in the top of the first.  SAGU committed two errors in the first inning as well.
