Waxahachie, Texas – October 19, 2015- The Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) announced the Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week and Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) sophomore Destiny Garza won the honor.  This is the second week in a row that Garza has received the award.

Garza, who is from Aldine, Texas , finished first in a field of 59 runners to win the University of Dallas 5K Invitational.  She finished the course with a time of 18:20.  Garza set a personal record on a course that has been dubbed “no PR hill” because of its brutal terrain.

After beating the second place runny by 1:19, cross country coach Jason Covarrubias believes Garza is very deserving, “I am so proud of her! She just continues to get better.  Running fast is one thing, but to do it alone week after week is a feat.   Well-deserved Destiny, well deserved!”

In the last three meets Garza has finished first in each of them.  Garza will race next on Saturday, October 24 th , 2015, at the NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield Classic.  She will be competing against nearly 50 other NAIA schools.
