East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) will play its season opener on Saturday at Lumpkins Stadium. ETBU is an NCAA Division III member of the American Southwest Conference (ASC). In the ASC Pre-Season Poll ETBU was picked to finish 3rd. Last season the Tigers finished 7-3 and were ranked as high as 15th nationally in Division III.

SAGU Head Football Coach Frank Tristan knows that ETBU will be a tough opponent, “ETBU’s team speed across the board is incredible. We have worked this week on trying to deal with their offensive tempo and defensive athleticism. Coach Highsmith will have them very well prepared and it will be a great challenge for our program.”
