Waxahachie, Texas – September 23rd, 2017 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer team successfully hosted an alumni game.  The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s soccer team won 5-0 against their fellow SAGU soccer alumni on Saturday afternoon.

The game began with many exchanges of possessions from both sides of the field. The entertainment from all the close calls had the fans and players on their toes. The first half ultimately came to an end with a score of 0-0.

Near the 15th minute of the second half, the current SAGU men found the back of the net. This goal gave the men the momentum of the game and caused a snowball effect. By the end of the game, the SAGU men had won with a score of 5-0.

Assistant Coach Caesar Espana said “The Alumni game went very well. Regardless of how the game was played out, it was touching to see everyone together at the same time, exchanging stories about their time at SAGU. The alumni were very thankful and excited about the opportunity to play. Most of them even got to speak about their current lives and how their time at SAGU has impacted them. It was great to see our current players connect and learn from the experiences of our very own alumni.”

The SAGU Men’s Soccer team will be playing John Brown University at home on Thursday, September 28th, 2017 at 3:00 P.M.
