Featured Athlete: Celi Bruce

Bruce is a 5’6 senior, libero from Waxahachie, TX , for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball team. She is now the all-time leader for digs as a Lady Lion with over 2000 career digs. Bruce passed the 2000 mark in their latest game against College of the Ozarks in NCCAA regional play when she recorded 22 digs which is her 11th game of the season with more than 20 digs in a game. The senior is ranked 45th nationally in digs per set, 3rd in total digs for the Sooner Athletic Conference with 549 on the season and 4th in the SAC with over five digs per set. For her career she has had over 500 digs in three of four seasons as a Lion: 552 as a sophomore, career-high 599 in her junior campaign, and 549 so far as a senior.

The SAGU Lions are set to play in the NCCAA National Tournament with pool play starting on Thursday 11/29 at 2 pm against T rinity International University (Ill.) in Point Lookout, MO then that night against Grace College at 6 pm. Their final pool play game will be a team they have split with this season, College of the Ozarks on Friday at 10 am.


Southwestern Assemblies of God University is a private, Christian university located 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in Waxahachie, Texas.
