The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) softball team has landed five players on the end of the season NCCAA awards and four on the SAC All-Conference list.

Casey Waterman receives 1 st Team All-American NCCAA, All-Tournament Team NCCAA, and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete for the 2019 season. She also was named 1 st Team All-SAC after being ranked 15 th nationally in total wins for the NAIA, 26 th in walks per game at 1.01, and 39 th in ERA at 1.83. Waterman was #1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference for walks per game and 4 th in ERA.

Rhian Journey was named 2 nd team All-SAC, Journey led the Lady Lions in at-bats, runs, hits, and triples. Journey was ranked nationally at 13 th for total steal attempts (40), 16 th for stolen bases with 35, 29 th with total at bats (186), and 33 rd for stolen bases per game (0.603).

Janely Cruz received a spot on the SAC 2 nd team as well, after being tied for 1 st in the conference for fielding percentage (1.00) which ranks her #1 in the nation for this category. Cruz was 2 nd on the team for at-bats, hits, runs, and triples.

Maddie Watson was the lone SAGU player on the Gold Glove list after being ranked nationally in four defensive categories. She was 3 rd in total putouts (393), 6 th in total chances (407), 30 th in putouts per game (6.66), and 37 th in chances per game (6.9). Watson was 1 st in the SAC for putouts and only committed two errors out of 407 chances.

Adriana Alonzo, Adrianna Barnes, Cheyenne Fults, and Destinee Vindiola were named on the NCCAA Scholar-Athlete list for their efforts in the classroom during the course of the year. This is an upgrade from last season when SAGU had three Lady Lions on this list.


Southwestern Assemblies of God University is a private, Christian university located 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in Waxahachie, Texas.
