Waxahachie, Texas- October 26, 2015- Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) junior Ethan Eastwood has been picked as the Central States Football League (CSFL) Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first time Eastwood has received the honor this year.

Eastwood, a linebacker from Maypearl, Texas , had 10 total tackles to help the Lions top Wayland Baptist University 40-14.  In Wayland’s second drive of the game he picked off a Pioneer pass for a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown.  Eastwood also had a pass break up that led to a SAGU interception by teammate Paul Ellis.

He is currently averaging seven tackles per game, with a season high of 10 against WBU.  As a sophomore, Eastwood was named 1 st Team Defense in the CSFL post-season honors.  In 2014, he averaged 10 tackles per game and ranked in the top 20 nationally for tackles per game.

On Saturday, October 31, 2015 the SAGU Lions will travel to Phoenix, Arizona to play Arizona Christian University .  ACU is currently in the top spot in the CSFL with a record of 4-0 and 4-3 overall.  Game time is at noon and it will be broadcast live.
