Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball Southwestern Christian University

Game One (L 3-2)

SAGU was quick to score and put both of their runs over the plate in the first inning.  With the bases loaded, SCU walked CJ Bills, scoring Chris Wallace.  Next, Griffin Glenn hit a sacrifice fly, bringing home Ethan Greiner .  The Lions left two on base.

The Eagles scored one run in the bottom of the second and two runs in the bottom of the fifth.  In the fifth, SCU had two hits and SAGU had one error.

SAGU’s Raul Castro pitched all seven innings.

SCU’s Victor Del Carmen picked up the win on the mound.

At the plate, SAGU’s Tanner Lindle went one for three with one double. Chris Wallace was one for one with one run scored.

Game Two (L 6-1)

By the middle of the fourth, SAGU was able to bring the game within one run, making the score 2-1.  SAGU’s run was scored by Raul Castro after Griffin Glenn doubled to left-center field.  The Lions stranded two on base at the end of the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, SCU scored one run and went onto score three more runs in the bottom of the sixth.

SAGU’s Augie Martinez pitched four innings for SAGU and had three strike outs. Payton Barrios came in relief for the final two innings.

SCU’s Spenser Jacob pitched six innings for the Eagles.  Jacob had seven strike outs.

The Lions only had four hits for the game.  SAGU’s Griffin Glenn had two of the hits, both of those being doubles.  He also had the one RBI.

Despite scoring six runs, SCU didn’t hit anything more than a single. Zach Graham was a perfect two for two with two runs scored and one RBI. Michael Lowe was two for three with three RBI’s.

SAGU is now 13-23 for the season and 4-8 in the Sooner Athletic Conference .  SCU improved to 7-8 in the SAC.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2017, SAGU will take a break from SAC play and will host Our Lady of the Lake at home.  Game one begins at 1pm. Our Lady of the Lake is currently 12-19.
