Notable Performers

• Arturo Valdez (JR/Eagle Pass, TX ) finished the race in 28:12 and was key to an overall top 10 finish for the SAGU Men’s program
• Robert Herrera (SR/Lyford, TX) finished with his first top 20 time of his career at Mid-States Classic
• Freshman Yahaira Almaguer set a personal record on the course with a time of 22:52, finishing 67 ^th .

Crossing the Finish Line

• The Lions finished tenth in the meet with score of 252.
• Robert Herrera had a top 20 finish. He placed 16 ^th for the Lions and finished the 8k race in 26:45
• The Lady Lions finished seventeenth in the meet with an overall time of 1:51:13.
• Yahaira Almaguer was the top performer for the Lady Lion’s in the 5k race with a time of 23:42.6.

Covarrubias Corner

• “We got better as a program. This course has always been a conference tune up and tends to be when our speed kicks in, but due to Covid and our conference meet being moved to the spring, we’ve adjusted our training schedule. However, even without one speed workout on the track 80% of our runners hit a season or personal best! That is exciting!  Our objective this fall was to slowly develop our runners with hopes to avoid peaking too soon come spring time, and thus far have kept to that plan. I am absolutely proud of this group’s effort!

• SAGU Cross Country will compete in an event hosted by Dallas Christian College November 6 ^th .
