Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) football Central States Football League’s (CSFL) Players of the Week CJ Collins Matt Lighter Arizona Christian University.

Collins, who received the honor for the second time this season, led SAGU with three passing touchdowns on 279 yards passing. He completed 73 percent (19 of 26) of his passes and rushed once for 14 yards.

While this is Collins second player of week honor this is the Lions third offensive player of the week. Jeremy Carr was named offensive player of the week last week for his performance over Texas Wesleyan.

Lighter, a defensive lineman from Katy, Texas, played a huge role in the Lions victory over ACU. He had six total tackles, including four solo stops. He also had three tackles for loss that totaled 11 yards and a half sack.

Defensive lineman coach Jared Hudgins was pleased with Lighter’s effort and commended his work ethic. “He is the most consistent young man I have coached. He wears opposing teams down with his relentless effort and attention to detail,” explains Hudgins.

SAGU enters their bye week this week and will play October 14 th against Wayland Baptist in their Homecoming game.
