Waxahachie, Texas – May 16, 2017- The Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) has announced the 2017 All-Conference Baseball team and two Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) athletes made the cut. SAGU senior Raul Castro was chosen as a 1 st Team pick and senior Josh Terry was named to the second team.
Raul Castro is a 6’2 pitcher/infielder from Richardson, Texas . In his final season for the Lions, Castro led the team in batting average (0.392), RBI’s (43) and strike outs (55). Castro hit nine home runs for the season, he also had one triple and seven doubles. On the mound, Castro had six wins for the season. 2017 finished up Castro’s third season as a SAGU Lion.
Josh Terry is an outfielder from Daingerfield, Texas . In 2017, Terry wrapped up a four-year career at SAGU, playing in 156 games overall. In his final season, Terry had a batting average of 0.351. He had 53 hits and scored 25 runs. He also had nine doubles and 26 RBI’s for the season.
SAGU finished the baseball season 15-34 overall and 6-15 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
