Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) recently organized its second annual “SAGU Christmas Day of Serving” –  a day for SAGU faculty and staff to serve our local Ellis County community.

From Waxahachie to Italy to Midlothian, on December 16, 2022, SAGU employees volunteered approximately 210 hours of service. The 59 SAGU employees traveled across Ellis County to serve twelve non-profits and one for-profit entity. Non-profits included Convoy of Hope, Meals on Wheels, Waxahachie CARE, Italy ISD elementary school,  Salvation Army,  Waxahachie Little Pantry, and several Waxahachie ISD elementary schools. For-profit entities included Daymark Living.

Katie White, Director of Business Services, organized the initiative. White states, “One of our core values at SAGU is Servant Leadership, and the SAGU Christmas Serving Day is just one opportunity to support our mission as colleagues and friends.”

SAGU employees enjoyed serving alongside coworkers, benefiting organizations where many have personal ties through community, family, and friends. “This day was established to strengthen partnerships within Ellis County and serve non-profits that faithfully serve our community year-round,” White explains. “Serving starts here, and it was an honor to have a small part in making a difference this Christmas season.”

SAGU is a fun, faithful family that enjoys sharing the love of Christ with the community through the gift of service.

As a leading Christian university, SAGU educates and prepares individuals who want to serve Christ and others. SAGU helps students discover and develop their God-given callings in a Spirit-empowered, learning community. We believe in affordable tuition, made possible in part through the financial support of donors who embrace the mission of SAGU and the importance of affordable, accredited programs to train Christians for leadership in ministry, business, education, and service. Most majors are available in-person in Waxahachie, TX, and online through a wide range of associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
