For Immediate Release

Waxahachie, TX – December 20, 2023 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) held its third annual Giving Day on December 15, 2023.

SAGU employees, along with additional volunteers, dedicated a day to serving the local Ellis County community. A total of 50 volunteers, including 48 SAGU employees, contributed their time, energy, and skills to benefit ten local non-profit organizations and charitable causes throughout Waxahachie, Italy, and Midlothian.

“This is the third year the SAGU Administration has encouraged employees to volunteer and impact their community by dedicating a day to local non-profits.” Says Katie White,  Director of Business Services. White explains that one of SAGU’s values is being a fun, faithful family and that giving back to the local community is an important aspect of that. “It brings joy to work alongside these incredible organizations and schools to lend a helping hand during their busy season,” White says.

The opportunities for service were diverse and impactful, spanning endeavors such as volunteering in the food pantry at Waxahachie Care, sorting toys and clothes for the Manna House Christmas Event, delivering meals with Meals On Wheels, being a bell-ringer with the Salvation Army’s “Ring The Bell” initiative, and collaborating with various local elementary schools.

Colleagues and friends enjoyed getting to continue to develop relationships with those in the community and unite for the greater good of Ellis County and surrounding areas.

As a close-knit, faithful family, SAGU takes pride in extending the love of Christ to the community through the gift of service, compassion, and support. SAGU is thankful for the opportunity to be a part of a community that has so many initiatives and non-profits.
