Waxahachie, Texas- March 8, 2017- The season is not yet over for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team and the Lions are continuing to rack up post-season honors.  The NCCAA Central Region has named Keyunta Watkins as co-MVP as well as 1 st team and Isaak Rowe has been named to the 3rd team.  Head Coach Donnie Bostwick has also been named as tri-coach of the year.

This isn’t the first honor Watkins, Rowe and Bostwick have received this season.  All three were given post-season honors through the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) as well.

Keyunta Watkins is a 5’8 senior from Trophy Club, Texas.  In his senior season he is averaging nearly 19 points per game, ranking him 14 th in the NAIA.  He currently ranks first in the NAIA in total three pointers made with 112.  Watkins also averages over three rebounds and three assists per game, as well as 1.5 steals per game.  Earlier this season Watkins hit the 1,000 career points scored during only his two years at SAGU.

Along with Watkins, Dallas Baptist University’s Patrick Burke was also named co-MVP.

Isaak Rowe is a sophomore guard from Mansfield, Texas.  In his sophomore season, Rowe is averaging nearly 13 points per game and six rebounds per game.  Rowe also has 54 steals and 18 blocks and counting for the season.

SAGU Head Coach Donnie Bostwick picked up another Coach of the Year Award in addition to his Sooner Athletic Conference honor.  Bostwick, along with Dallas Baptist University’s Blake Flickner and Colorado Christian College’s Tony Romera received the three-way award.

For the 2016-2017 season, Bostwick has led his young squad to a second place finish in the SAC as well as a 23-8 record, going 12-6 in the SAC.  This season will also be Bostwick’s fifth year in a row to lead SAGU back to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

This season Bostwick also reached a milestone win of 150 games while at SAGU.  He is currently 271 career wins as a collegiate head coach.

On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, SAGU will play Talladega College in the first round of the NAIA National Championship.  Game time is at 10:45am.
