The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball team was swept by Oklahoma City University three games to none then split against Texas College for a mid-week series against the Steers. The Stars defeated the Lions 1-14, 4-8, and 2-5 in the third game. In Tyler , SAGU won game one 7-6 then lost game two 6-7 to propel their season record to 19-21 and a 5-12 Sooner Athletic Conference record.
Six players had hits in game two after they had got the game in reach 4-7 before the Stars scored another run in the 6th inning. The Lions were led by Tanner Lindle as he hit a two-run home run and finished the game with three of the four RBIs. Kyle Coolidge had the other RBI after going one for four with a double before the game got out of reach in the sixth inning. In the third game, Ben Bills started the game with a double followed by a Lindle single. Later in the inning, Andrew Diaz hit a double to bring both players in for their only two runs of the game. Diaz and Lindle both hit singles later in the game to complete their five hits. Bills and Logan Mann pitched the final game with Bills pitching the first 5.2 and Mann finishing the last 2.1.
Texas College was defeated by two Bills home runs in the first game of the series for a total of four RBIs. Diaz also hit well after going two for three with a two-run single to continue his hitting streak. AJ Munoz had the other RBI from a double after going three for four and being two of their seven runs. Mann was recorded with the win after pitching 2.2 innings and allowing two earned runs from five hits while striking out two batters.
The second game of the series Diaz went one for two with a solo home run then catcher, Blake Lewis hit a three-run shot in the fourth inning while also being walked once. Bills and Lindle each had hits during this game with Lindle adding an RBI to his season total. Augie Martinez almost had a perfect 2.2 innings after only allowing one hit and not allowing a run during his time on the mound.
The Lions will be back at home on 4/11 and 4/12 for a three-game series against Mid-America Christian University . They are half a game behind MACU for the 7th spot in the SAC standings.
