Texas Wesleyan visits FLC on Thursday

WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  Tonight is the first of three matches at home for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University volleyball team.

The Lady Lions will carry a 10-10 record into a critical league contest at 7:00pm (CST) when arch-rival Texas Wesleyan University (13-12) visits the Sheaffer Full Life Center.

SAGU is 3-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference while the Lady Rams are 5-2.

Both teams have been hot and cold this season. TWU has currently won six of their past eight matches, while the Lady Lions have dropped six of eight.

This is the first meeting between the teams, who will wrap-up the regular season in Ft. Worth on November 8 at the Sid Richardson Center.

The Wesleyan Women took both encounters in 2012 and have an 11-5 lead in the series. SAGU is 3-3 at home in the series, though they have won three-of-the-last-four.

Rob Price is the host and will supply play-by-play action while former SAGU player Devan Guynes is the Color Analyst.

Another SAC match is on tap for Friday night, October 11.

Southwestern Christian University, of Bethany, Oklahoma, will be in town for a 7:00pm start.

The Lady Eagles are 4-18 overall and 1-7 in the Sooner. SAGU swept them in OKC on September 21; 25-15, 25-19 and 25-23.

Saturday the Lady Lions tangle with Southern Nazarene University (Ok) at 11:00am in a non-conference match.

The teams met earlier (Oct. 20) in Bethany, Ok., where the host Crimson Storm (12-6 record) won in straight sets; 25-19, 25-18, 25-18.

Next Monday, October 14, SAGU travels to Oklahoma City where they will take on Mid-America Christian University at 7:00pm. The Lady Evangels are in last place at 3-16 in all matches. They are 0-7 in the SAC. SAGU defeated MACU on Sept. 17; 25-20 25-7 25-19.

After Monday the Lady Lions have six dates remaining, three of them at home.
