WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  There’s no place like home!

The Southwestern Assemblies of God University softball team plays host to Northwood University on Tuesday afternoon for a 2:00pm doubleheader on their campus field.

It will be just the team’s third and fourth games on campus so far this season. They played four games at the Waxahachie Sports Complex while the remaining 22 contests have been on the road.

No one in the Sooner Athletic Conference has played more than 11 away games.

The Lady Lions have a chance to snap their overall 11-game losing streak against the Knights, who bring a 5-19 mark into the games. Northwood is 0-9 on the road.

Both teams are at the bottom of the league in scoring; Northwood producing 3.5 runs per game while SAGU is at 3.0 rpg.

Head Coach Tim Grant’s pitching staff had hoped to improve this season in the circle. Their current 7.11 earned run average isn’t as good as last year’s 6.93.

Part of it could be the move to the much more competitive SAC, which has seen SAGU’s .312 batting average slip to .215 this spring.

The two teams met a week ago in Cedar Hill where the hosts swept a twinbill with scores of 9-4 and 8-5.

SAGU will visit Mid-America Christian University (13-10 / 3-4 in SAC) in a four-game series on Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Lions (6-22 overall) will close the season with 14 of their final 18 contests played in Waxahachie.
