OKWU2Waxahachie, Texas- August 28, 2014- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) soccer Lions dropped a scrimmage to #5 Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OKWU). The final score was 6-0.

The first half the Lions held the Eagles scoreless until injury time and OKWU made their first goal in the 49th minute.  Despite the Eagles attack in the second half, Coach Clem Oancea was pleased with his player’s performance, “We knew that it was going to be a strong game and we played very well.  After half time we did try to refocus from the disappointing late goal but the heavy legs started showing more and more.”  The heavy legs likely came from playing two games in less than 24 hours.

After half time the first goal scored came from an error 30 yards from the goal which resulted in a direct kick.  Two minutes later came the third goal.  The last three goals were scored in the 24th, 34th, and 43rd minutes.

“Looking back at last night’s game the main lesson learned is that we need to stay committed to the game plan from the first whistle to the last,” says Oancea.

The Lions will host Southwestern College (Kansas) on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 5pm.
