At approximately 4:00pm the Lions, 3-5, tangle with the MACU (MACK-you) Evangels, who are 4-3-1.

While it is SAGU’s debut in the SAC, both MACU teams are 0-2 in league play.

The Evangels lead the series 4-2. SAGU is 1-2 at home and in OKC. Scoring in the series belongs to the red-clad Evangels, 14-7.

MACU won the most recent meeting in 2012, 1-0, with a quick goal forty-five seconds into the second overtime.

SAGU’s top goal scorer, sophomore Robert Ambrosie (Lasi, Romania / Richard Wurmbrand HS), will miss the game. Lee Kounas (Oak Cliff, Tx / Townview HS), quiet of late, has tallied three times during the non-conference season.

Sophomore Joel Ramirez (Red Oak, Tx / Red Oak HS) has a team-leading 25 shots this year. Kounas (KOO-nahs), also a sophomore, has fired 18.

Ramirez has a pair of goals, as does freshman Walther Cavazos (Monterrey, N.L., Mexico / Mesquite HS) and junior Jonathan Ramos (Tegucigalpa, Honduras / Garringer HS), who leads the club with three assists.

The Lions have netted 16 goals and yielded 20.

Balanced scoring describes the Evangels. Seven players have found the back of the webbing for two or three goals.

Raphael Bonelle and Marcel Lima lead with three goals. Six-foot-three Tyler McIntosh guards the net, allowing 1.82 goal per outing.

Mid-America has an 18-15 edge in goals against their opponents.
