Senior guard now leads the NAIA in both scoring, steals

Lions play at Rambo's high school in Cedar Hill, Tuesday, 8:00pm

rambo-in-kcWAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  For the second time this season the Sooner Athletic Conference has named Southwestern Assemblies of God University’s Dominique Rambo as its Player of the Week for games during January 13-19.

The 5-foot-10 senior guard from Dallas averaged 21 points during three victories by the No. 2 ranked Lions.

Impressive as his scoring totals might be, three other categories perhaps better illustrate his total floor game.

At 5-foot-10, he also grabbed 5.7 rebounds per contest, a whopping 5.7 steals as well as 3.3 assists.

SAGU wins were 68-63 over Oklahoma City University (9-6), 63-52 against John Brown University (12-5) and a 91-83 triumph versus No. 11 St. Gregory’s University (13-3).

'Bo netted 18 points against the OKC Stars, 23 in the JBU game and 22 at St. Greg's.

His season scoring average of 24.5 leads the NAIA.

He is also making 43% of his shots and 65% from the foul line.

Six different players for the Purple Pride have had 20 or more points in a single game so far this season.

Rambo registers 4.2 steals per game, also the best average in the NAIA.

Caleb Gentry (Hondo, Tx / Hondo HS, Ok Wesleyan Univ ) is credited with 2.5 thefts per outing, giving SAGU two players in the Top 10 nationally.

Lions play close to home on Tuesday

SAGU plays on Tuesday night against Northwood University. Tip-off is set for 8:00pm (CST).

The game will be played at Trinity Christian School’s Nutting Arena, where Rambo was a two-sport, all-state athlete in high school.

Trinity Christian School is located one mile east of Highway 67 on Pleasant Run Road in Cedar Hill (1231 E. Pleasant Run Road, Cedar Hill, 75104), 19 miles from Waxahachie.

The Knights have won three consecutive games behind one of the SAC’s largest frontlines and several dangerous shooters.
