Lions to play home/away against Ecclesia College

SAGU schedule now complete with 30 dates

WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  The Southwestern Assemblies of God University men's basketball team has agreed to a pair of games this season with Ecclesia College.

The Lions will travel to Ecclesia for the first meeting on Monday, January 27. Ecclesia (ECK-less-EE-ya) visits the Sheaffer Center on Monday, February 24. Both games have a 7:00pm (CST) start time.

SAGU third year Head Coach Donnie Bostwick announced the arrangement earlier this week. NAIA teams are allowed a maximum of thirty games. Sixteen of the Lions games are at home.

The Lions open their season on Tuesday, November 5, at home against Dallas Christian College.

The Royals, 2-22 last year, have introduced a new hoops boss in T.K. Smith. Their website lists the former player at the University of Central Arkansas as the youngest (24) college head coach in America. He was the Director of Basketball Operations at UCA last year.

Ecclesia College is located in Springdale, Arkansas (pop. 69,797), a suburb of Fayetteville in the northwest corner of the state. It is directly east of Tulsa, Oklahoma by 109 miles.

The EC basketball itinerary has an exhibition against an NCAA D1 team, the Univ. of Central Arkansas, six NCAA D2 teams and a handful of NAIA teams.

Two members from the Sooner Athletic Conference, Wayland Baptist University (14-16 in 2012-13) and No. 7 ranked John Brown University (28-7), will also meet the EC Royals this season.

The college was founded in 1975 by Oren Paris II, the father of Christian recording artist and modern hymn-writer Twila Paris. Through the years Ecclesia College has enjoyed a strong and autonomous relationship with Youth With A Mission. ..

SAGU plays ten games this semester, six of them at home.
