Rewind: Rambo winning 3-ball, Cox, O'Neill scores

Price tells already crazy fans: "Go Crazy, SAGU, Go Crazy!"

WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  Fretting fans of Southwestern Assemblies of God University basketball have reason to rejoice. If you missed the games from Saturday and Monday, here's your chance for a quick, visual re-cap.

Both the men’s and women’s team experienced big victories in recent days, each taking place inside the Sheaffer Center, each broadcast on SAGU TV.

The SAGU Sports Live crew has posted highlights of the Lions’ 90-87 thriller over Texas Wesleyan University on Saturday, the Lady Lions 78-74 overtime triumph against the University of the Southwest as well the Lions' 102-70 taming of the Southwest Mustangs.

The latter two games were played on Monday night.

The highlight video clip is available to view here or from the SAGU Sports Live fan page on Facebook.

Fans will see the finish versus the Wesleyan Rams when Dominique Rambo (Dallas, Tx / Oklahoma Wesleyan Univ., Trinity Christian School) buried a triple with just over four seconds on the clock.

Announcer Rob Price implores fans watching the broadcast to “Go Crazy, SAGU! Go Crazy!”

Too late. They already were, as The Jungle section erupted throughout the gym.

The Lady Lions rallied from a 12-point deficit to defeat the Lady Mustangs.

Viewers will re-live the highlights including Okievia Bratchett’s (Center, Tx / Tenaha HS) pass inside to Kassy Cox (Lufkin, Tx / Lufkin HS). Her basket in transition gave SAGU the lead, 76-74, and proved to be the winning points.

The Purple Pride, who have played in a list of down-to-the-wire games this season, enjoyed a rare rout against Southwest. With fans hungry for the team to score 100 points, the Lions didn’t disappoint.

The video shows fan-favorite Clayton O’Neill (Halletsville, Tx / Halletsville HS) make a three-point play in the closing moments to eclipse the century mark.

It also provided everyone in attendance with a free taco from the Waxahachie Taco Bell (with the purchase of a soft drink).

Taco Bell is one of three area restaurants who reward fans for team performance. Buffalo Wild Wings and Chili's are also on-board with the no. 13 Lions and Lady Lions.

If the Lions sink 14 three-point baskets, BWW provides six free wings to fans (with the purchase of a drink), while Chili's issues a free bowl of chili con queso and chips should SAGU draw five charging fouls against their opponent.

Last season the Lions won free wings for fans on five or six occasions. This year? Not yet.

As for molten cheese and chips, they almost registered the feat against Langston University.

Seconds after an official cited a fifth player control (charging) foul on the visiting team, another official overturned the call and, instead, whistled a SAGU player for a blocking violation.

It meant no cheese and no smiles from fans, who were already celebrating and salivating in the bleachers.

The next scheduled games to be aired are on Thursday, February 7, when Huston-Tillotson University visits. The Lady Lions play at 5:30pm, the Lions at 7:30pm.
