SHAWNEE, Oklahoma  --  All twenty-two teams in both the women’s and men’s divisions of the Sooner Athletic Conference will compete in the single-elimination tournament this week, including the Lady Lions and Lions of Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

The top five teams receive a first round bye while the next six teams have an opening round “play-in” game on Wednesday, March 5.

The SAGU Lady Lions play at noon on Wednesday against St. Gregory's University, a team they swept during the regular season; 64-42 and 70-46, an average margin of victory of 23 points.

The Lions play on Thursday night at 6:00pm against the winner of Wednesday's Oklahoma Baptist University -vs- Texas Wesleyan University game. They split their two meetings, the home team prevailing.

SAGU won all four games against the Bison and Rams, though each encounter was a fierce battle.

The Lions defeated OBU 89-76 and 69-61, an average margin of 10.5 points separated the teams.

Facing TWU was even tighter, winning 86-80 and 77-74. Only 4.5 points per game.

The closest games were played in the Sheaffer Center.

Oklahoma Baptist will host the conference tourney in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the Noble Center on campus. Games will take place inside the Mabee Arena, which has a seating capacity of 2,400.

Fans who don’t attend the games can follow the action on livestream video or by a digital play-by-play called LiveStats.
