Summary of SAGU's Sports Saturday

The Lady Lions dropped a doubleheader on the road to University of the Southwest (New Mexico) for a second straight day; 14-0 in the first contest and 7-1 in the second. SAGU is now 3-5.



The Lions split a twinbill against Wiley College, losing the first game, 5-0, before rallying for a 7-6 triumph in the nightcap. The second game featured a deep home run and a triple in the clutch as the team overcame a 6-1 deficit. SAGU's record is now 7-5 after going 2-2 at home against the Wildcats.



Team Lioness won the battle of the boards but cold shooting and 25 turnovers proved costly in a 66-52 defeat the hands of Mid-America Christian University. The Lady Lions are12-14 overall and, at 6-10, are in seventh place in the Sooner Athletic Conference.



SAGU overcame a double-digit second half deficit in handing MACU a 95-94 setback. After making pressure-packed free throws the Lions led 95-91 in the closing seconds. The second place Evangels scored on a half-court three-pointer at the buzzer. The Lions improved to 22-3 in all games and 14-2 in the SAC. They are one win away from clinching the championship.
