OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma  --  Southwestern Assemblies of God University split a basketball doubleheader this evening at the Abe Lemons Arena against Oklahoma City University.

After trailing the No. 7 ranked Stars at halftime by 34-26, the Lady Lions were routed in a 77-47 verdict.

SAGU, now 10-11 overall and 4-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, missed 13 of 25 free throws and were dominated on the boards, 47-29.

OCU (13-2 / 10-1 in SAC) held the league's top scorer, Nia Winston (Garland, Tx / Lakeview Centennial HS ), to just eight points. Taylor Hill (Waxahachie, Tx / Waxahachie HS ) and Jirah Rodriguez (Georgetown, Tx / Georgetown HS ) scored 12 and 10 points respectively.

The Lions scored the game's final four points to pull out a tight, 65-62, victory over OCU. In a classic defensive battle, the lead changed hands 11 times.

No. 4 ranked SAGU (18-2 / 10-1 SAC) tied the score at 61 on an offensive tip-in by Jonathan Walter (Garland, Tx / Garland HS) with 4:09 to play. It would be the last basket by either team.

A steal by Caleb Gentry (Hondo, Tx / Hondo HS, Ok Wesleyan Univ ) led to a pair of Dominique Rambo (Dallas, Tx / Trinity Chr CH, Ok Wesleyan Univ ) free throws for a two-point lead at the 1:44 mark.

The Stars' Jamaal Crayton made one of two from the foul line with 1:29 remaining.

Walter grabbed a defensive rebound, was fouled, and converted two critical shots from the charity stripe. The clock showed 0:44 remained and SAGU led 65-62.

The hosts missed a pair of three-pointers as the Lions defense stymied the Stars down the stretch. OCU missed their final four shots and were forced into two turnovers.

Rambo, Gentry and Walter all scored in double figures. Emmanuel Adoyi (Little Rock, Ark / LR Parkview HS ) reeled in 10 rebounds.

SAGU returns home on Saturday, February 1. They will entertain Southwestern Christian University for a pair of matinee contests at 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
