SAGU Sports update: January 21, 2014Waxahachie, Texas — January 21, 2014 — No. 2 Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men's basketball defeated No. 11 St. Gregory’s University, 91-83, at the W.P. Wood Fieldhouse in Shawnee, Okla., on Saturday, January 18.

They are 15-1 overall with their tenth straight win and 8-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) — the only undefeated team in the SAC. SAGU entered the game with the SAC’s best field goal percentage on defense as well as leading the conference in scoring defense.

Women's basketball

SAGU women's basketball also defeated St. Gregory’s University, 64-42, on Saturday, January 18, at the W.P. Wood Fieldhouse in Shawnee, Okla. They improved their record to 9-9 and 3-5 in the SAC.

SAGU men's and women's basketball will travel to Ceder Hill to play Northwood University on Tuesday, January 21. Women play at 6 p.m., and men play at 8 p.m.

Lions fans are urged to attend the game (1231 E. Pleasant Run Road, Cedar Hill 75104) at Nutting Arena on the campus of Trinity Christian School. The next home game is February 1 against Southwestern Christian University.


SAGU baseball resumed practice for the 2014 season on Monday, January 13. The current roster has eleven players from last year’s team along with 18 newcomers.

SAGU will commence a 46-game schedule on the last weekend in January when Hillsdale College (OK) visits for two doubleheaders at home on January 31 and February 1.
