SAGU Sports Network launches 'likeable' resource

Special Features: video highlights, photos, Twitter feeds

WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  The Southwestern Assemblies of God University Athletic Department and Media Services have a working partnership that continues to be met with great fan approval.

While SAGU has added women’s soccer, softball and both men’s and women’s cross country teams in recent years, SAGU Sports Live began broadcasting live athletic games in high definition.

This fall, their fourth full season on the air, also brings an anticipation of expanded services.

One new move is the July launch of the SAGU Sports Network fan page on Facebook. An early goal is to collect 700 ‘Likes’ by September. Nearly 300 already have!

It will replace both the SAGU Athletics and the SAGU Sports Live fan pages. They will cease operations on Facebook on Sept. 1.

SSN will post HD video highlights as well as feature interviews with players and coaches. Articles, photos and score updates on the new Athletic Department Twitter account will appear on the site. The handle: @SAGUSportsNet

Fans are encouraged to check out the new SAGU Sports Network page. ‘Like’ it and spread the news to friends, alumni, relatives and sports fans.

The page, which already lists the fall broadcast schedule, will soon announce new plans. Hints are given, including a new weekly Coaches Show, called The War Room, which will premiere on Thursday, Sept, 5.

Make the page a daily destination for breaking news, including info on the developing services for followers of SAGU athletics.

Click on the link below, which appears on the fan page, where Tim Roberts introduces the football Lions’ 2013 eleven-game schedule.

The Lions, who will unveil purple helmets adorned with their new logo, report to camp on Monday, August 12. They open the season on September 7 when Bethany College (Kansas) visits Lumpkins Stadium for a noon kickoff.

All other SAGU teams open on the road:

Men’s Soccer: August 23 at St. Thomas (Houston, Tx), 7:00pm

Volleyball: Aug. 26 at Wiley College (Marshall, Tx), 7:00pm

Women’s Soccer: Aug. 29 at Southwestern College (Winfield, Ks), 1:00pm

M/W Cross Country: Sept. 7 at McMurry University (Abilene, Tx), 8:00am

Fans can download Game Day Previews for different sports throughout the season. The new resource will provide media access to games at home or on the road, from video to radio and LiveStats webcasts.

Game Day Preview will be posted on the SAGU athletics website.
