Waxahachie, Texas- June 25, 2014-  Three recruits for the Southwestern Assemblies of God (SAGU) football lions played in Texas all-star football games.  CJ Collins played in the FCA Victory Bowl in Waco, Texas, Austen Lange played in the Oil Bowl in Wichita Falls, Texas and Matt Lighter played in the Bayou Bowl in Sugar Land, Texas.

Quarterback CJ Collins helped his team score 21 consecutive points while leading to a 21-16 victory at the 6th annual event.  Collins threw for 143 yards and two touchdowns and was named as the offensive most valuable player of the game.  Collins attended Bosqueville High School where he was named co-offensive MVP all-district after passing for 2,871 yards and 27 touchdowns his senior year.

Austen Lange, who will play both football and baseball at SAGU, suited up for the east side of the ball in the 77thannual Oil Bowl.  In the end the offensive lineman and his team lost 28-0.  Lange graduated from Sanger High School in Sanger, Texas.  In his final season Lange was named all-district 1stteam offense.

Offensive lineman Matt Lighter represented Katy High School at the 12thannual Bayou Bowl.  Lighter played for the West Team and lost 6-0. In the past the Bayou Bowl put Louisiana all-stars against Texas all-stars but this year was a different format.  Louisiana no longer wanted to participate so it became an all Texas game. Lighter’s 2013 season was successful for Katy High School.  The season ended in the 5A Division II State Championship where Katy lost to Cedar Hill High School.
