Oklahoma Baptist hosts SAGU next Saturday

SAGU Sports Network audio broadcast begins

coach-godding-pre-gameSEGUIN, Texas  --  What started with a number of impressive plays by the Southwestern Assemblies of God University football team in the first quarter, ended with an even more impressive display of lightning and rain by the weather.

Officials stopped play less than a minute after the start of the second quarter, and, after three hours of patience, cancelled the game at 10:00pm. Call is fulguration finishes football.

The lengthy electrical storm also ruined homecoming festivities for Texas Lutheran University. Since it was a non-conference game, it will not be rescheduled.

According to SAGU Head Coach Jesse Godding, the Lions do not have a bye week or an open date.  The Pride were already booked for an 11-game season.  They have seven contests remaining, three of them at home.

The first quarter energy and performance by the Lions offense, defense and special teams give them plenty of positives to take into their next game.

SAGU (1-2) is slated to play their first conference game next Saturday, October 5, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. There, they will meet Oklahoma Baptist University (0-4) at 2:00pm.

The record of the first year Bison is misleading as they have suffered three setbacks of nine points or less.

The SAGU-TLU game also marked the first-ever audio broadcast of a Lions game in any sport. It was made available by the SAGU Sports Network.

Fans can listen to the Lions-Bison game on Saturday at 1:50pm (CST). It will include both a pre and post-game show.
