Lady Lions play on campus, Lions at WSC

WAXAHACHIE, Texas  --  The start of the 2013 softball season commences today for Southwestern Assemblies of God University with a doubleheader on campus against Our Lady of the Lake University.

The seven inning games are set to begin at 1:30pm (CST).

Weather permitting, the teams will play the third game in the series on Saturday morning, likely at 10:00 or 11:00am.

This will be the second season for the Lady Lions, who went 2-28 a year ago.

The Lady Saints, 28-18, finished second in the Red River Athletic Conference in both the regular season and the post-season tournament, each time to Texas Wesleyan University.

The SAGU baseball team, now 6-4 on the season, will also be in town, though their twinbill against Kansas Wesleyan University (34-22 a year ago) will be played at the Waxahachie Sports Complex.

Two doubleheaders are on tap, all of the seven inning variety, starting Friday at 3:30pm. Saturday's double scoop of baseball is slated for a noon first pitch.

Probable pitchers for today are RHP Jarrod Pisors and RHP Hayden Killebrew, both from Red Oak, Texas. Saturday's likely starters include LHP Skyler Gilstrap (Smithville, Tx / Smithville HS) and RHP Jacob Spivey (Georgetown, Tx / Harker Heights, HS)..

SAGU has begun the season with 14 consecutive home games. Next week they take to the road.
