Waxahachie, Texas – August 11, 2014 – Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) alumnus David Flores created a non-profit organization called Every Kid Deserves A Ball that hosts El Golazo de Tu Vida soccer camps for students from kindergarten to ninth grade in San Miguel, El Salvador

Flores gathered a team of skilled coaches, some Salvadorians others Americans, to travel to his hometown of San Miguel. During their training sessions, they taught soccer techniques and the values of forgiveness, unity, solidarity and justice, to 617 young students from the Centro Escolar Colonia San Francisco.

Flores said, "We teach soccer because we have a passion for the game, but at the same time we seek to show the love of Jesus Christ to these young students. We want to help them become great soccer players and also show them our Christian values."

The intention of the program is to provide the students time in a positive environment to "take them out of the streets," he mentioned. "We want to show them a different way of life than the gang violence that surrounds them. We want to show them they are loved, give them the time they deserve and promote positive thinking through soccer."

The principal of the school, Carlos López, tells the importance the camp plays in the school community, as the area is under siege by criminals, "It is comforting to teachers, parents, and students that people are willing to make a positive impact on the students lives and are dedicated to this great cause."

Flores graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and began teaching at Palmer Elementary School in Palmer, Texas, after graduation. He uses his vacation time every year to give back to the impoverished communities where he grew up in El Salvador

He played a vital role on the men's soccer team during his time at SAGU. He helped lead the team to the 2011 NCCAA National Championship and continues to support and offer guidance to the squad.
