SAGU alumnus creates youth ministry curriculum Waxahachie, TexasMarch 7, 2014Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) alumnus Dustin Woodward, a former Young Alumni Award Recipient, recently launched a youth and young adult program that is gaining traction with youth ministries across the country and the world.

"To put it in one statement, it’s a 6-week sermon series designed to bring student ministries and churches together to accomplish one thing – to better understand who Jesus really is," said Tim Somers, spokesperson of the Jesus System.

The program is a collaborative effort, with recorded sermons of Woodward and similar youth pastors: Jordan Boyce (New Life Worship Center in Smithfield, Rhode Island), Chase Garner (The Rivers Church, in Johannesburg, South Africa), and Jordan Smucker (Faith Family Church in Canton, Ohio). All sermons are available for download throughout the course.

The four pastors began planning a student ministry that would change how churches understand Jesus and impact students – both internally and externally – around the world. Several SAGU alumni are involved in the Leadership Collective, including Robert Madu, Nolan McLaughlin, and Chad Trinkle. The goal of the program is to be a resource that churches of all denominations can use to better understand the life that Jesus has called His Church to undertake.

The first week of the series, the youth pastor of the individual ministry taking the program is given an outline and speak to their youth or young adult group. Weeks 2-5 are video podcasts from the student pastors listed above who are hosting this movement. The final week, the youth pastor closes the series with a final outlined sermon of his choice. All materials, including sermon outlines, graphics, media packages, and the promotional items are free.
