The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball team won a hard-fought conference road game in Arkansas. This five-set match keeps them in 1st place of the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 0.5 game lead over Oklahoma City University going into the last week of conference play. The Lady Lions have an overall record of 25-2 and are 16-1 in the SAC.

John Brown University won set one 18-25 and set three 23-25, SAGU took sets two, four, and five (29-27, 25-22, and 17-15). Senior hitters, Kali Shaw, and Suzanny Figueiredo both had double-doubles to propel the Lions over the Eagles on Friday; Shaw had 15 kills to go along with 12 digs, and Figueiredo had 19 kills with 11 digs. Setter, Sophia Ivy had her 11th game of the season with 40+ assists with 44 and 9 digs on the night. Celi Bruce and Nikki Almaguer had over 20 digs each with Bruce having 21, and Almaguer had a career high of 23 digs.

This was a key win before heading into the last week of the season with three games against Texas Wesleyan University, Mid-American University, and University of Science and Arts . TWU will be in Fort Worth at 7 pm 10/29, MACU and USAO are home games over the weekend on Friday and Saturday at 7 pm 11/2 then 1 pm 11/3.
