Under the Sun to premiere nationallyWaxahachie, Texas — June 20, 2013 — The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) student film "Under the Sun" is scheduled to premiere on NRB-TV network's DirecTV, Sky Angel, ROKU, and other affiliates on Saturday, June 22, at 9 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. A potential 32 million viewers from across the nation will watch the film.

SAGU Assistant Professor and "Under the Sun" Executive Producer Rob Price says, "We are thankful for the broadcast partnership developed with the NRB-TV network over the years. Since 2008, the network has shown all our award-winning student productions, including 'Breaking News,' 'Murdoch,' and 'To Every Nation: The Mission TEN Documentary.'"

He continued, "It is important that SAGU student films are presented beyond the scope of and local Waxahachie. The exhibition window of broadcast television is exciting and positive news for SAGU's expanding Digital Media Arts program."

"Under the Sun" is the university’s third summer film and fifth major production in the past five years. The short film was written by SAGU senior Taylor Johnson and directed by 2012 graduate Krystle Sonmore.

The film explores the theme of navigating life when the unexpected happens. Johnson says, “I wanted to write about the universal feeling that comes after a traumatic event — when you just question everything." He continues, “Most people have been through something traumatic, so I wanted to explore the part of life that doesn’t always make sense on the surface.”

SAGU has entered 'Under the Sun' in at least ten film festival contests around the country. Previous SAGU student films have received numerous awards. The team for “Murdoch” received three awards at the WorldFest Film Festival in Houston, Texas. The film won a Gold Award (2nd place) for all Short Film Cinematography and two Platinum Awards (1st place) for Short Film Editing and Short Film Screenwriting.
