The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball team was swept by Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Southwestern Christian University . The Eagles scored seven runs in each of the three games compared to the Lions three runs in game one than one in games two and three. The Lions are slated at .500 on the season with a 17-17 overall record sitting in 7th place of the SAC standings tied with Mid-America Christian who they will face next weekend.

The Lions scored in the 4th inning of game one when Kyle Contreras doubled to deep left that would score Houston Johnson who reached on-base from a single that passed the Eagles 3rd baseman, 1-5 Eagles. The other runs came in the 8th inning from James Yarbrough’s triple that scored Ben Bills who previously doubled to left. Game two the Lions were led by Tanner Lindle who had two of the Lions three hits and the only pitcher who didn’t allow an earned run to the Eagles. The other hit came from Johnson who went one for three on the game with four assists. Andrew Diaz scored in the 4th inning for SAGU’s lone run when an SCU Eagle threw a wild pitch, Diaz reached on-base from a walk. SCU had one home run and three doubles during the first game of day two for seven runs.

The last game of the series the Eagles were winning 0-1 until the 6th inning when SCU scored four to give them a lead the Lions wouldn’t be able to come back from. Bills doubled to deep left then advanced to triple from a passed ball. He would later score from a balk from the Eagles pitcher. Bills and Logan Mann pitched the seven-innings combined for the third game.

The Lions will travel to Oklahoma City University this weekend for another three-game series with one game being on Friday at 7 pm then Saturday at 1 pm and 3 pm.  The Stars are in second place of the SAC and half a game behind the league leader, University of Science and Arts.
