Waxahachie, Texas – January 27 th , 2018 – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men’s basketball team won against Mid-America Christian University , 80-74, on Saturday evening. The Lions move onto 8-5 in conference play and 14 -7 overall this season.

The Lions started off to a fast pace, allowing SAGU to gain a 19-point lead with two minutes left on the clock in the first half. The Lions went into the half with a score of 43-26. The second half was a battle to maintain for SAGU. The pace was pushed by MACU all the way to the final buzzer, but it was not enough to defeat the Lions. The final score of the game was 80-74.

Head Coach Delton Deal stated, “Big time win for us today versus a very talented team. We got a huge performance from Remington Mitchell but I was happy with how we defended in the first half. That is what helped us build a lead big enough to hold them off down the stretch. When we play with joy, good things happen and I really felt that tonight from our guys.”

The Lions will be back in action on February 1 , 2018 against Wayland Baptist University at 8:00 P.M. in the Sheaffer Center.
