  2. SAGU received $607,766 in HEERF funds to give to eligible students. This is the student portion of the CARES Act funds (50% of the total amount received).

  3. SAGU has distributed the entire $607,766 amount to eligible students. All funds have been distributed.

  4. There were 780 students that were eligible to receive emergency financial aid grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

  5. 780 students have received CARES Act HEERF funds. Every eligible student received something.

  6. Because CARES Act funds were intended to help students who had their education interrupted as a result of COVID-19, these funds must be used for on campus students who had their classes switched to online and also for those that had to move out of their dorm. In addition, students had to be eligible to receive Title IV aid. There were 780 students who met these requirements. Funds were disbursed to eligible students in two rounds.
    • ROUND 1: Every eligible student received $375. The total amount awarded in Round 1 to 780 students was $292,500.
    • ROUND 2: Students who demonstrated financial need and who owed an outstanding balance to SAGU were awarded additional funds. Pell grant recipients could typically receive a maximum of $1,700 in additional funds. Students not eligible for a Pell grant could typically receive a maximum of $935 in additional funds. The total amount awarded in Round 2 to 215 students was $315,266.

  7. Eligible students were informed that they would be receiving HEERF funds through the CARES Act and given options of how they would like those funds distributed to them. Eligible students were instructed to inform SAGU through an online form as to how they would like the funds to be disbursed to them and given directions on how to sign up for direct deposit.
