Cherri Lloyd was raised in Hillsboro, Texas where she was involved in music ministry at Grace City Church since the age of 13. Her role on the worship team consisted of vocals, and piano. Her formal music training began at Itasca Independent School District where she learned the flute and was Drum Major in the marching band her junior and senior years. She attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University where she received her B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) in music education. During this time, she played flute in the concert band and took the role of concert band master under the direction of Dr. Tyrone Block. She was also the secretary for SAGU’s collegiate chapter of MTNA and was named to Pi Kappa Lambda. At SAGU, she also led two mission trips, one to Alaska and the other to Australia, as part of SAGU’s M.T.E.N. project. After completing her degree at SAGU she took a job as the assistant band director at Itasca ISD. She currently teaches 7th grade band and assists with the 6th grade beginner band and the high school marching and concert band. In July of 2015, Lloyd accepted a part-time faculty position at SAGU as the adjunct woodwind instructor. She teaches private flute lessons as well as Woodwind Techniques as part of the Music Education degree offered by SAGU. In January of 2016, Lloyd started her Masters of Music in Music Education degree at the University of Texas at Arlington. She is currently a member of TMEA, MTNA, and ATSSB. Lloyd’s future plans include furthering her education through doctoral work where she plans to study music education and music psychology.
