Professor Ellie Gates brings over two decades of experience as a rising leader and senior executive in People & Culture in the High-Tech Industry. Her business experience spans from working in large global technology companies such as Adobe, Microsoft, T-Mobile and MCI to smaller startups such as Snowflake, Omniture and Box. She also spends time advising and coaching leaders in business, academic institutions, non-profits, and NGOs.

Ellie has worked globally in multiple cultural contexts building innovative programs that drive higher performance and engagement across Talent, Organizational, Learning, and Leadership Development areas. However, she is perhaps best known for leading the cultural and performance review transformation at Adobe where she led the cross functional implementation team to abolish the annual review practice. Adobe was one of the first companies to do this, and this work has been a catalyst for many other companies and industries to eliminate this archaic practice and move towards a stronger feedback culture. She also co-created the Ethics program for Worldcom with NY University, after it’s downfall for ethical business reporting.

Ellie earned a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership in 2011 from Azusa Pacific University, where she also earned an MBA in 2000. She studied Psychology and graduated with her BA from California Lutheran University in 1991. Ellie also holds certifications as a professional coach, speaker, and trainer from The John Maxwell Company, and The Hudson Institute for Coaching.

She and her family moved to Waxahachie, from Dublin, California in the summer of 2017 to begin teaching Business at Southwestern Assemblies of God University. She teaches, Entrepreneurship, Business Communications, Principles of Management, and Ethics. In her free time, she enjoys writing, reading, singing, and mentoring younger women in finding their leadership voice and identity.
