The SAGU Collegiate Chapter of MTNA was established in 2012. There are many goals of MTNA, including:

  1. Promote the benefits of music making and music study, as well as music teaching profession as a worthwhile, respected and financially viable career.
  2. Establish and maintain relationships/partnerships to advance music education and the arts.
  3. Promote networking opportunities, continuing education and resources.

The collegiate chapter was presented with the 2013 Benjamin Whitten Collegiate Chapter of the Year Award for excellence in creative projects, chapter activities, and effort in promoting the art of music.

Students from the collegiate chapter were actively engaged in research projects/presentations at the state and national levels. The list below shows the appearances of our collegiate members as presenters or adjudicators for Texas All-Star Festival:
