Overview

The moment prospective students walk onto the campus of Southwestern, they form perceptions of the University. Just like we would beautify our houses before hosting friends, it is also important that we beautify the campus for future students and their families. Southwestern Women's Auxiliary was created in 1993 primarily for the beautification of the campus. SWA has raised funds for landscaping, the design of flower beds, and the decoration of walkways around campus. Special projects also contributed thousands of dollars to the development of the East University Drive entrance.

Become a Member

By becoming a member of the Southwestern Women's Auxiliary, you become a part of a valuable organization to the SAGU campus family. Members receive campus news and notifications of any upcoming SWA events occurring on campus or in your area.

SWA members are also made aware of many opportunities to serve the SWA and the students, faculty, and alumni of Southwestern, including:

  • Student scholarships given yearly
  • Campus beautification projects
  • Memorial purchases for brick walkway
  • Homecoming events

Note: Annual dues for Auxiliary members are $20. Dues are used to support beautification projects on campus as well as to provide a scholarship fund for female students in the education department.

How you can help

Many women wonder exactly what it is that the Women's Auxiliary does. While the primary focus is on campus beautification, there are other ways SWA supports the University.

  • Prayer: SAGU is constantly in need of prayer warriors who will pray for the university, administration, and most importantly the students who attend. Your prayers make an eternal impact.
  • Academic Scholarships for Education Majors: Membership dues contribute to the landscaping of the campus, but also to a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a deserving student.
  • Encourage Your Friends to Join: SWA is reliant upon women who will partner with us to improve SAGU. Participation is even more enjoyable when your friends participate with you.
  • Be an SWA Representative in Your Area: Not all alumnae of the university are in the Waxahachie area. You can be a representative in your area to help grow SWA nationwide.
  • Recruit Students: Our ultimate goal is to see SAGU flourish. Auxiliary members are encouraged to recruit students by hosting events in your area, promoting the school, or perhaps even hosting prospective students for a meal at your home.
