The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) basketball teams both won big road games at Texas Wesleyan University last night in Fort Worth, TX .

The Lady Lions controlled the whole game winning the first three quarters then the Lady Rams made a last minute run to give SAGU a scare. They held them off for a 66-61 victory for their 9th win of the season so far. Lexi Rich came out on fire scoring seven straight points in the first quarter and she didn’t look back after that scoring 23 points on 11 shots, 7-11 from the field, 2-6 from 3, and 7-7 from the free throw line. Forward, Jenna Price was effective with 12 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks. Guards, Sydney Meador, and Kiara Glenn rounded out the list with Meador having 12 points, three rebounds, and two steals on the night; Glenn had 11 points in the point guard role. Rich is now the leading scorer in the conference with 17.87 points per game.

The men came back from being down eight with a few minutes left in the game and sent this matchup to overtime. With 15 seconds left on the clock, tied ball game, TWU’s Juwan Jones air-balled a jump shot from the left wing. Cameron Hill grabbed the rebound and dribbled to the middle of the court with three seconds for a contested three. Hill knocked it down as time expired to give the Lions a 94-91 victory in OT. Hill had his best game of the season at the right time; 29 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and zero turnovers in 40 minutes of play. Nyk Mason stayed in double digits for the fourth game in a row with 16 points and a team-high of eight rebounds. Josh Kashila was big in the win as well with 15 points, six rebounds, and one assist.

Both teams will be back in action tomorrow night, 1/10/19, as Langston University visits Waxahachie for a 6 pm tipoff for the women and an 8 pm start for the men.
