Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) volleyball Wayland Baptist University Sooner Athletic Conference

The Lady Lions played a very young roster throughout the year, with zero seniors.  Coach Hank Moore has been impressed all season with the way his underclassmen have rallied, and Tuesday night was no different.  “I’m still very pleased with this young team.  We are going to get better.  I’m very proud of our players, staff and the entire program,” explains Moore.

This was the second time in five days that SAGU has made the long trip to Plainview, Texas to play WBU.  Both times the Lady Lions lost to the Lady Pioneers 1-3.

The first set remained close until about mid-way through when the score was 12-13 with WBU in the lead.  The Lady Pioneers went on an eight to zero run to pull ahead.

In the second set, the score was point for point.  The final two points came from kills by sophomore Kali Shaw .

“We hurt ourselves in all four sets.  We just made too many errors,” says Moore.

Kali Shaw led SAGU with a double/double, 17 kills and 14 digs. Paulyae Dawkins battled through injury and had 11 kills. Sophia Ivy had 45 assist, eight digs, and two assist blocks.

SAGU was minus five in kills, minus six in hitting errors and minus four in serving errors.

Kali Shaw is still the leader in kills for the Sooner Athletic Conference.  She had 451 kills, averaging four kills per set.
