Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) women’s soccer team VICTORY Ministries

VICTORY Ministries began in the heart of new head coach Paul Hason while on a mission’s trip to Cairo, Egypt in March 2016.  “I was able to spend time with the top leaders in sports ministry from around the world who came to conduct the conference and they just sowed good seeds of wisdom into me. The Lord placed it in my heart and provided me with a vision of creating a ministry program when I returned back home and that He had a new journey prepared for me. God always gets it right,” remarks Hason.

This week, SAGU hosted three girls’ soccer teams on campus.  The Lady Lions coached U8, U10 and U14 teams from Waxahachie.  The Waxahachie Youth Soccer Association President James Cumbo was thrilled with the invite, “I think it’s great that they’re getting involved and being role models for these girls and showing them what the next level of soccer looks like as well as what good citizenship looks like as well.”

On top of coaching soccer, the Lady Lions have donated water to all three Waxahachie Fire Stations.  They also have visited a local nursing home, spending time playing games with the residents.  Over the weekend they will help with a water baptism event at Anchor Church in McKinney, Texas.

As for the future of VICTORY Ministries, the women’s team is hoping to take their service worldwide.  They are planning future mission’s trip and in an ironic turn of events, Egypt is on the short-list of places to visit.

Earlier this summer each team member became a U.S. Soccer National Licensed coach.  Having an entire team licensed is one of the first in the country.
